VBCA - VB Code Assistant
Version 1.1.0
Copyright (c) TG Muench 1996, 1997
All Rights Reserved
VBCA (VB Code Assistant) is an Add-In for Microsoft Visual Basic Version 4.
It provides many of the features that developers need -- and Microsoft still
has not provided in the VBIDE (Integrated Development Environment).
Here is a brief summary of VBCA's features:
o Align controls - left, right, top, bottom; horizontal, vertical
o Space controls - horizontal, vertical
o Center controls - horizontal, vertical
o Size controls - height and width
o Set Tab Order of controls
o Access the last 10 blocks of text from the Clipboard
o Indent/Outdent code
o Comment/Uncomment code
o Preview graphics
o Paste code templates; If/End If, For/Next, etc.
VBCA installs itself as an Add-In for the 16- and/or 32-bit Editions of
Visual Basic 4 under the following Windows Operating Systems:
Windows 3.1 16-bit only; note: a very poor platform for VB4
development
Windows 95 16- and 32-bit
Windows NT 16- and 32-bit; VBCA has not been tested under
NT 4.0

Installation
------------
1. Create a directory named VBCA under your Visual Basic directory. Here are
some suggestions:
Windows 3.x \VB4\VBCA
Windows 95 "\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Basic\VBCA"
Windows NT 3.51 \VB4\VBCA
2. Unzip VBCA110.ZIP into the above directory
3. Make a backup copy of the DLL's you will be replacing in your Windows
System directory: MFC40.DLL, OLEPRO32.DLL
4. Copy *.DLL and *.OCX to your Windows System directory
5. Delete *.DLL and *.OCX
6. View the documentation file VBCA110.WRI before attempting to use VBCA. The
product must be installed and registered before it can be used.
Documentation
-------------
The documentation was created in the original Windows Write (WRI) format so
that it may be viewed under all flavors of Windows. Under Windows 3.1 and
Windows NT 3.51, use Write; under Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0, use WordPad
which can input (but not output) WRI format. Note that under Windows 95, the
file WRITE.EXE in the Windows directory is not Windows Write; instead, it is
a pointer to the new WordPad.
If you have Windows 95 with WordPad, you can load the document in WRI format
and then save it in Microsoft Word 6 (DOC) format if you so desire.
The images used in VBCA110.WRI are 16-color bitmaps. The images simply took
up too much space when stored in "HiColor" or "TrueColor" format. If you have
problems viewing the embedded graphics in Write or Wordpad, you must set your
display adapter to standard 16-bit color.
Registration
------------
After you have activated VBCA, choose "About..." from Code Assistant on the
VB4 Add-Ins menu. Here you will find full information on how to register VBCA.
VBCA is what I am calling try-it-ware.
VBCA is not crippleware or expireware; it is not crippled in any way, nor does
it cease to function after a period of time. If you try VBCA and don't like it
and don't want to use it, simply delete it from your system and that's it. If
however you do like VBCA and continue to use it after a reasonable evaluation
period, please register. There are two levels of registration: Level 1 ($10)
will get you on a Mailing List with announcements and notification of fixes.
Level 2 ($15) owners also get the latest version of VBCA on diskette and one
upgrade.
Please send a Check or Money Order for $10/$15 in US funds along with your
name, address and email address to:
